History

From the moment I stepped into my high school horticulture class, I was captivated by the world of plants. The feel of the soil, the scent of the greenhouse – it was a sensory experience that ignited a lifelong passion. My early studies in bonsai instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and structure of trees and shrubs.

Inspired by the master John Naka, I learned the delicate art of shaping plants without compromising their natural form. While bonsai focuses on miniaturization, my work in landscape pruning is about enhancing the health and vitality of larger trees and shrubs.

Over the past four decades, I’ve had the privilege of caring for countless properties in Spokane County. Each project is an opportunity to showcase the transformative power of expert pruning. I approach every plant with respect and honor, striving to preserve its unique character while improving its overall health and appearance.

Our Philosophy

At Star Pruners, we believe pruning is more than just cutting branches. It’s a collaborative art form, where we work with nature to enhance the beauty and health of your landscape.

Our approach begins with a deep respect for each plant. We carefully observe its natural growth pattern, considering its placement within the broader landscape. We assess whether its original planting position allows for proper growth and avoids crowding its neighbors.

Our goal is to create a harmonious balance. Through strategic pruning, we ensure each plant has the space it needs to flourish. This not only improves its overall health and appearance but also fosters a sense of peaceful co-existence within your landscape.

Our trained eye can identify areas that detract from the natural form, allowing us to subtly guide the plant’s growth while preserving its unique character. As a result, your trees and shrubs will not only look beautiful but also thrive in their environment.

This philosophy of respectful enhancement is what sets Star Pruners apart. We are committed to providing expert care that promotes long-term health and beauty for your landscape, with a focus on working in harmony with nature.
